Happy Resurrection Day!

Filipino traditional dance "Malong"

3 member dance

I'm not a big fan of the word "Easter". The word has no meaning in itself. In Japanese we call the day fukkatsusai which literally translates "resurrection celebration". I think that says it much better. We gather together to remember the extreme sacrifice and the redeeming resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ.

At Tokyo City Church, Resurrection Day is celebrated by a worship service, then a potluck lunch and closed by a program of songs and dances performed by various groups within the church. Above are some photos of the ladies in our church dancing. The first is of a group of Filipinas doing a traditional dance set to a praise song and the second is of three of our ladies doing a worshipful dance.

"Look what the Lord has done!"

Wednesday morning, the last day of the Tokyo area youth camp, we held a "Thanks" service where each break out seminar (dance, worship, ping-pong, photography) shared what they did during the camp. A number of our church youth girls were in the dance group (I was the head of that group...I didn't dance though). Another girl from our church was in the worship group and is pictured here leading worship. It was her first time ever!

Tokyo area youth camp

Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday of this week is the Tokyo area youth camp. We are having a fun filled time of worship, the Spirit, the Word and of course some delicious food! The mealtime especially, has made for good fellowship with the other Japanese pastors. Please pray for our final day!

Our new set of wheels!

How do you like our new set of wheels? We recently bought this bicycle which allows Kathryn or me to ride with both girls in their own seat. Of course, Gabriella is still too small to ride but as soon as she can sit up well we will give it a try. Isabella already loves riding the bike and wearing her "bicycle hat" as she calls it.
